I'm gonna drop a heater in it now, pinch one out of the tank with the Jardini in it.

Still no leaks, feeling confident again :grinno:

Well, if he knows he was recommended then maybe he's the one, don't always get what you pay for but i'd rather spend more, plus a recommendation, normally pays off. tricky though hey, especially when dealing with big bucks.

I'll measure the glass up this afternoon and get a quote from my mate to supply, probably won't hear back from him today but when i do i'll let you know steve.

I saw those pictures you uploaded on your albums, fantastic looking tanks mate, really.

Do you know much about Geophagus sp. Hope thats spelt right, i have always admired them because seem pretty docile and especially how they sift the substrate alot, do you think in the long term, when i'm stocking, i could keep these with potentially a motoro or two plus an asian aro?

Yeah i know what your saying about the recomendations but that much difference is taking the pee,and one of the other guys went school with my gf and he said that was alot, but weve not had his quote yet.
Thanks for the comments on our tanks, glad you like em.
As for the geos, they are great fish to have in a big tank as they sift all the time and the sand gets cleaned pretty well but they do dig round plants, also when i had 6 with my aro,he killed 4 of em as in my experience once they get attacked they get that stressed that it kills them, but i had two left in there and one was looking like it was stressed out and going the same way but i bought some tinnys and my dat on advice from wharf and the one recovered completely and even out grew the other one but died a while ago of god knows what but the other one is still in there.
Id say if you get geo daemons like i did,get some tinnys at the same time as my aro only attacks them now and somehow it never seems to bother them.hth.

i Think i have a potential future problem on my hands then....... i want to keep too many sp. that won't get along! :( Maybe i can slot a 4x2x2 tank into the summer house next year, to keep some other fish. damn this hobby! thanks for the info and your experiences steve. I guess, if the geophagus were large enough, a ray would not bother them much, but still i'm sure it would be a potential problem. I hate seeing fish bullied or fighting unnecessarily.

Ok, throw me some ideas if you would. what would you keep in my tank? i do want to keep another aro, i will miss my jardini when he/she goes. Def want to keep soft water type fish, a ray if i feel i can do it justice.

I think you should post your stocking ideas on the ray forum and im sure they will put you right.
Id like some but im not sure if my bichirs will attack the rays or vice versa.
Thinking about the geos, our local maidenhead has had 2 motoros with geos for years in their display tank, they have daemons, jupari and another species and dont think they have had any problems.

Ideas for yours could be a nice asian aro or 2 or more depending on your wallet, peacock bass or gars would be great or a load of dats, etc.

Cheers steve, i'll get round to posting some stock ideas including rays and see if they get shot down or not, so far i'm only working on the assumption that if its too big to fit in the ray's mouth then it's got a fighting chance.

Def want to get an asian aro ( or two) and to be honest the peacock bass are growing on me alot, are they popular because they have 'marine fish' looks about them? i love the markings on the more mature individuals.

On a more realistic note (can't talk fish really when i aint got any water, hey) the filter is holding up fine, heating has not seemed to affect anything.
the temp in the summer house was just over 25 when i got in this afternoon and it holds the air temp well into the night, which is positive for the winter months when the underfloor heating is on.

Just need to apply that (hopefully) final coat of epoxy to the main tank and get the glass/price.

I know i keep asking about your future tank, but, sorry to be nosey. what are you gonna keep in it? am i right in thinking its gonna be nine foot long?
