My old socks were starting to wear out (mostly tearing around the ring), so I bought 25 socks (minimum order) from filterbag.com. These are 7x16 200 micron polyester socks with a polypropylene ring. They are singed on the outside and soft on the inside. They are quite a bit more flexible than my old ones, which were polypropylene with a singed interior and exterior. They cost me $97 shipped, which works out to $3.88 each.

Here they are:

Dan F - how many washes did you get out of your worn socks? I start washing mine in the washer. Its getting colder so not very pleasant hose them outside.

I couldn't really give you an exact number, but I got a lot. At one point I had 12 socks in rotation (I use four at a time) but they had dwindled down to 7 over about a year and a half. I think I probably got 20-30 uses, but I really don't know for sure. I hate cleaning them in the winter, too. That's why I bought 25 - i should be able to go three months between cleanings.

Some socks last allot longer than others. I have purchased multiple different types from MC masters and found one type built really really well and others weaker. If your looking to but some anytime hit me up.

just placed an order for ten 25 micron on mcmasters. i like these because they have the heat-welded seams and are the glazed finish. I think they're more durable and efficient because of that. cant wait to use these. my old 100 micron socks are beat!Untitled.png

Just received my batch of 5 micron socks from Mcmaster. Lasted a whole 24 hrs before clogging. Hopefully that interval gets longer as the water gets cleaner!

I was debating on the 5 microns. 24 hours out of them is longer then i expected. I might give those a try after all. for those days i need that extra extra polishing and am there to swap them out.
