I finally got around to making one of these using this as a template

Im pretty sure some posted it here somewhere. I made one addtion to the design, a slipxfpt 90 attached to the T fitting in back with a hose adapter.

An of course you have to play with the pipe lengths depending on the tanke you have.

I think it works much better than the HOB overflows.

Take a small section of PVC (I used 1/2") and make a big U shape. Then get a peice of 1" and cap the bottom. Install a "T" where you want the water level to be, hang it on the tank (I used a PVC hanger zip tied to the 1" tube), put the "U" in the 1" tube and the tank then it's done. Just fill the 1" tube and install an air line check valve on the "U" to pull the air out.

I think this is the method that Li and a couple of others are using. It's working great for me.
DO you have any pictures of this mounted? I am having some trouble making mine hang stable.

Thanks Wolfie

I'll try to get some pix later. I'm not using this method now, but I will be again in the future. (I centralized the tanks a bit more so I didn't need the overflow for the drip anymore). As soon as I get my next tank hooked up on this I'll be sure to post it.

the airline check valve. how do you fasten it in the pipe so there is no air leakage?

So, then, does the height of the tee determine what the water level will siphon down to in the event of a power outage? Would that slow the flow rate if I were to place the tee 6-8" higher?

I'm not comprehending...
This design is for a drip system?
or a new overflow design?

Cause I see you have one on your 300 w/ your jar.

This is the original constant level siphon that is the predecessor to pvc continuous siphons and over flow boxes. Originally made of borosilicate glass tubing with a hold melted as the siphon brake. Simple U tubes were used to connect tanks on the same shelf with this device on the end to allow water to flow back to sump or drain.
