Amazon Project starts (pics)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just wanted to say this is a fantastic display and I would love to get up to Minnesota to see it. I hope you have labeled it "New World Exhibit" or something like that rather than "Amazon" since so many of the fish are not naturally found in the Amazon river or region and we don't want to misinform people who see the exhibit. Keep the pictures coming!!

No I do believe they already have the pima and it is in quarantine (sp?).

Arapaima is in holding. He's a little guy (4 footer). He'll be out end of the month - if not sooner. We have all the pacu in now...and NO, I DON'T WANT MORE. We have 7 adult blacks (over 40 lbs), 6 juvie red belly and an adult group of piractus. That is enough pacu for me. Our blacks are already spawning! That is a great way to kill your bio filter, let me tell ya! Oh and the midas are pair off and spawning as well. We've got a ton of fry already.

As for informative. As hard as my Curator and I have fought, this is still seen as family entertainment, and not science/education. The signs read "Amazon", but where we could, we point out facts about the fish to dispell misinformation out there.
