Como Zoo attempted to put one together. They had me on staff for a time. We ran into some issues with what the 'correct' approach should be. (The main problem was nobody there knew what the heck was going on when it came to keeping fish. And what limited info they did have was apparently given to them at Wal-Mart's fish department) They had some major design flaws that I did my best to correct repeatedly (there's a thread on here about it, if you are interested, showing the multiple tear downs of it and the re-do). Push comes to shove, I couldn't stand by and watch the failure due to ignorance anymore. I stuck around for over 6 months after I quit as a favor to keep them at least going until they could hire my replacement. They hired someone who I would call a "novice hobbiest" who got in way over his head. The exhibit has more or less failed on them since then. They've brought in several outside consultants and companies to try to figure out 'what is wrong'. So far, most have said "You're not doing it right". Sorry if that comes off as rude, but I find it so funny.
The ironic thing with this one is after only 7 months on staff at this aquarium, they allowed me to set up one of the largest Amazon exhibits in North America as well as the first major exhibit change since the facility opened. It's been great. They've been very open to letting me do my own thing. I'm very happy and excited about how it's all coming together. When it's all said and done, we'll be able to claim the largest South American freshwater collection in the world.
I should also toss out that I was granted a promotion today. I am now a Senior Aquarist here - which is faster than anyone has ever moved up in rank to this level (so I'm told).
