and i know you mention this earler but would you reconmend building a tank and than and very nice tank of a stand to fit the tank? does anyone know what water heights this type of build supports, before leaks become more probable.

Yep, I just pushed in the wood, but I left a gap between the wood and the glass. Then I measured the gap at several points and marked it onto the wood. This way I can measure accurately if the glass bows even a tiny amount during the fill.
great idea but isn't it possible for the wood to flex some as well?I would think so.In any case, you will know no matter what.

very nice tank i really like it, i want to build a large aquarium. one question i have is why did you choose to use glass over acrylic??

Thanks.
To answer your question, I already have an acrylic tank and it doesn't seem as clear as a glass tank. Plus glass was easier to find here where I live.

I'm not quite with you here.
Are you asking if it would be better to build the tank and stand seperately?? if so, then next time I build a plywood tank I will definately build then seperate for easier transporting.
