Well he does turn a more golden color when ever he wants I notice lol...I know one thing he is very aggressive and digs a lot of holes... I have always kept orange Midas and notice it a big difference between the barred and orange of the ones I have kept

Yeah, both my barred midas love to dig and move the pvc pipe

Could be either or at the size. The only sure way is to vent. I would do so on a major water change and get measurements at the same time. Just to make sure I'm not stressing the fish to often
