If you look at Oddballs Oddballs thread in the photo lounge, on one of the last pages, you can see my old Caquetaia spectabile...its gotten huge, and totally awesome coloration. Great cichlids!!

That's a nice thick good looking spectabilis, I hope to grow mine that size.

Nice!! Yes that would be the spectabile I was talkin about! Geez he shure has popped up in size! Its crazy how much he's grown! You rock Phil!! knew he was going to a great home!

I've read that the difference is in size and body shape, with males being higher-bodied. Any truth to this? I got a couple of these guys a while back, and they're now 6-7". Two pics of each, and they appear to be males, but I'd like the opinion of someone who knows better than I do. If anything can chime in, I'd be most appreciative, so thanks in advance. And yes, I know I have to trim the Anubia
