scs 1200 is still the best!
Amehel0,
The SCS 1200 sounds familiar. Is that the trade name or what does the "scs" stand for?

"We recently put in glass on my plywood tank using the Dow 732 sealant and 1200 primer. The primer is no joke - it really gets the silicone to set up rather quickly and bond up well. I chose the 732 because of it's properties, it's NSF and UL ratings. The fact it's Mil - Spec helps too."

Is the residual primer removable? How well does it stick to cleaned glass? Can you see the primer that is past your bead of silicone?

Yeah, it's removable. It dries to a powder. I just soap and water it off.

Fairly well it seems. I didnt want to touch it while we were working with it.
I think the primer instructions give you a time limit on how long it can sit before you silicone over it.

Yes, you can see it especially after it has dried out. It turns a chalky white. I think on one of the pics you may be able to see it some of it.

Does it matter if the label reads not for continuous water submerssion the ge construction sealent reads this at least where i am but the ge windows and doors II does not but reads not for aquariums where fda compliance is neccasary i have used the windows and doors without a problem but it remains a little bit soft unlike whatever they used to build my purchased tank's that i stripped down.

Dow corning only reads dow corning and state's not for continuous under water submersion u.s product's are often more easily availible than canadian.

Can anyone from Australia advise me on what brand of silicone to use for glass tanks, as the brands obviously differ in different countries.... and i have never heard of many that have been stated...?

DAP is good stuff. My dad owns his own tile business and that's what we use for caulking shower doors and stuff...
Sometime awhile back I read DAP is probably one of the Dow Corning products. It's just re-labeled.
