I just got a RTG about 10 inches. My questions is what kind of light should I use? pink and white 50/50? or any suggestions? Does the background affect the color. Mine is black. Is it bad? or should I go with blue.

Beside I always thought RTG has golden body with red tail. But somehow the fish I have the whole body is kinda red. Will it change when it grows bigger? :screwy:

I use blue because thats the only color that looks good on my black on black. How much you swap that rtg for and was it at warehouse?

LETS SEE A PIC. HOPEFULLY YOU DIDNT GET A GREEN ARO BEING FED COLOR ENHANCING HORMONES.

I've seen RTG's in tanks using NAAN Lighting and it really brings out the red..

No for sure its not green. THe only thing I am concern is that the rtg body should be pinkish or golden yellow when they are small (9inches) ?

they should be golden already or beginning to show some gold. A lot of people use those red mealworms to feed their aros and that turns them into that unnatural pinkish color. If you can show us a picture that would be best. With out pics we are just guessing.

+1 They should already be showing gold on their body. Either that or they will be a silver/white color before showing the gold. The pink might be comming from the diet or it could just be stress.

Something in your description does not connect. RTGs at 10", as people have mentioned should have a champagne/gold shine about the body and the tail should be orange at bottom half and rather dark grey/black at the top half.

There should not be any "redness". Even genuine red arowanas are not "Red" at 10", but rather still silver with either a Blue/Green/Purple shine about them. Its not until they are around 14-16" that the rims begin to show signs of Orange/Red coloration.

Please try to get some pictures up!

looks RTG to me.

Heres a young RTG at about 10". It shows red tail and a silverish body. Some develop faster than others. Just depends on the fish, diet, surrondings, water, ect...
