Just missed out on getting 3 nice looking Jungle perch today from the LFS - pissed off that I didn't go in earlier as they are one of the few fish I'd find a space for no matter what.

Too bad cos I got rid maybe 50 of them not long ago for real cheap. A certain someone on here got a killer deal.

Blackspot Estuary Cod are the only ones that will tolerate low salinity min 10 ppt and less for short periods, but will die in pure fresh. When I was young and did not understand about osmosis and diffusion killed a couple trying keep them in fresh.
cheers,
Steve.

Does anyone one have any ideas of suitable natives for a year round outdoor pond on the north coast of NSW .To give you an idea of conditions I have a 3 ft tank outside at the moment with some convicts (doing hard time, no heater) and a couple yabbies (yes it is well covered) which was at 14.3 degrees and the outside air temp of 8.5 degrees tonight @ 11.00 pm.
It does get a little cooler but the pond will be insulated and have a cover in winter to try and keep the temp over 15 degrees hopefully
Size is yet to be determined but will depend on species ,probably up to 1.5m x 3-4m x .8 deep

If you can keep it 15 degrees Leis are ok short periods of 12 wont worry them woulld require a net they like to jump.
Any Cod are ok Murrays easy to get Marys harder the rest protected.
Any Terapontids but def + 15 for northern sp. tandanus barra bass yellas and any southern natives ok
