Average lifespan of a flowerhorn?

most live around 6-8 years, many live longer - part of a flowerhorn forum with many different types of flowerhorn in all ranging ages, its only the VERY recent ones that live shorter lives, if yours is kamfa i would expect 10-15 years due to the veija in it.

Highly unlikely for a FH now a days to live past 3 years. Most die around the year and a half mark. I've noticed Kamfa's do a little better than RD's.. but the rule of thumb is, The nicer the fish looks, the more likely it is to die prematurely. Weak genetics, along with the crap people feed their FH's and it's no wonder they don't live very long.

Well that sucks.. someone needs to make a stronger flowerhorn... and stop inbreeding them so much..
