You see them here from time to time... Definitely get some Altifrons and start powerfeeding them in the meantime, I guess.GEO QUEEN;4586368; said:haha my geos are going to look pretty small in this tank. Im looking for bigger ones so give me a heads up if you hear of anyone selling any that are around 9+in
Or just get A LOT of them. Like the giant shoals of orangeheads at the Shedd aquarium. Which is a really awesome sight to see.
Oh, didn't realize you had room over there to get that full view. Yeah, that'd be really cool. Especially if you had some top dwellers that liked to go back and forth the long way. I always like watching my Aro glide away from me the long way...thanks for the input! But we are thinking that we dont want to put an end piece on the return side because it is 5ft and looking through the side could possibly make it seem like you are looking at a totally different tank. so that was our thought on thats. and it would be kind of cool to look from the side and see the fish swim away from you...8ft deep..lol
In that case it might be worth seeing what a 5x20 pane of new 1" acrylic would cost. Probably not too horribly much... though re-constructing everything would probably be quite a chore and expense though. That'd solve the issue of the holes... Otherwise you'll have to get really clever with driftwood to disguise the holes but not totally block the 8 foot view. Actually, another possibility, though it'd really break up the depth from looking at the front pane, might be to have a pile of decoration in the center, giving the shyer fish plenty of space to hide behind it... then you'd only see them from the side, which really gives it the effect of having 2 totally different tanks...
I still can't get over that... a free standing 8x5 in the living room. That's the size of the rug under my dining table!
(You know what that just made me think about? Having a ray tank set into the foundation with a giant pane of acrylic over top of it. Yeah, totally designing that one into my future mansion )
