The pump is plumbed right into the frame...the weight of the pump gives the frame bottom weight and stability...

I measured out and marked 1" spaces. Then I drew a center line for reference to keep the slots uniform.
I raised the blade on the table saw just a 1/32" above the wall thickness and made the 22 cuts...
and Yes, water flows from both sides of the spray bar...
I got some adjusting to do on the frame so it will be submerged. All you will be able to see above the water line will be the vertical uprights...

This is the pump I got, and it's actually 138watt not 158watt as posted earlier...

Very cool looking setup Zen. Great job on regulating the flow. Looks like it will handle some real filtration.

Thanks Brother...I'm tuning it this AM...I might be able to eek out a few more GPH by bypassing all the 90's down low in the frame and plumb right into the "crosses" on the uprights...

Pics to follow...

man this thing is sweet! i will definitely make one for the next pond in the future, it looks so easy to make!! so whats the total cost for this project?

you could even cover it with some bamboo screening that ive seen at lowes/home depot. that would work great. build a little enclosure around it

any ideas on other DIY options for the shower trays? did you see anything else out there that could be used? trying to see what could be used for bigger trays and holding more media.

this would be my ultimate pond filtration :headbang2

- 5,000~7,000 gph flow rate
- pressurized bead filter for mechanical
- UV light for clarification
- fed into massive bakki shower for bio filtration
- down into waterfall

thanks for the inspiration :D

You're welcome...
I been wrapping my head around a 1/4" plexi shower trays (very easy because no top or bottom) stainless bolted to 1 1/2" loop of PVC...

As a matter of fact I couldn't let all that flow potential go to waste so I uped the feed and spray bar to 1.25" and 1"...
I'm going 1.25 from the pump to a "T" to the risers then to 1"(sch 20) on the new spray bar...up'd from .75"
