Bonsai flowerhorn might work.

Yeah if those are your two choices I would stay away from jewels they can be nasty to each other.
I've seen jewels fight fish two and three times their size and win!

Most of the fish mentioned in this thread are capable of that. The Kribs are one of the gentlest by far.

Not like jewels. Most of the fish mentioned here wouldn't stand a chance against a jewel cichlid.
I guess it's a matter of experience and opinion IME they are well above some others listed in this thread.
Your experience may be different

Never kept jewels, but convicts are nasty, I have had babies kill plecos, brichardi gang up on other fish, neets are known as the nastiest of all CA, P Saulosi are mbuna, Leleupi are one of the nastiest tangs, salvini are underestimated by people on mfk all the time and they pay for it with whatever else they have in the tank, FM are really too big for a30, I can't imagine jewels standing out for aggression on this list.

I've kept most on that list and jewels. They're pretty high on the list of aggressive cichlids. If you just look just at cichlids of the same size as jewels they may even be top Of that list. IMO anyway.
Look at some threads on jewels. The biggest complaint about them will be their temperament.
Especially if they form pairs.
The pair I had could easily back Red Devils and jags back across the tank.

I haven't ket everything on your list but I am pretty sure they can be significantly more aggressive than convicts, brichardi, saulosi or leleupi. They are some of the biggest Jekyll/ and Hyde fish around. They can be utterly docile as individuals but once they pair successfully they will kill anything they view as a threat.
