Best Cichlid Pellet on the Market?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Really? All my cichlids, polypterus, or any of fish can’t stand NLS. They just mouth it and spit it up and that repeats until they just grind it up in their mouth and spit all the particles into the filter intake. Hikari is like crack for them they can’t get enough of it. For me Omega one is the best of both worlds. It’s got good ingredients like NLS and they take it readily like Hikari. And I guess I don’t have to feed peas anymore due to the pea protein? I’ll have to look more into that...

I like OO, nls is good too. My polys have no issues with nls and oddly dislike massivore. That said eventually i'll be adding it to menu and force them to like it.

So would you consider NLS the best then?
I've tested a lot of foods, but not everything out there. So, to be fair, I'd qualify that to say best of those I'm familiar with (which, to be clear, includes Hikari), and many others I wouldn't use based on ingredients (too many grains, starches, soy, cheap non-aquatic ingredients, etc.).

I saw this at the local petsmart today and had to pick it out. I think the Herichthys Pearsei on the logo convinced me. I have had the smaller pellet for these and they have got to be my favorite versus NLS and hikari. I also think they changed their formula. They even added pea protein.

Funny ah ha! are you reading those additives on that label gotta do so homework on some of that stuff thats hard to pronounce. A lot of fish foods may not necessarily kill the fish you're raising at the time but probably will weaken the genes over generations, you will be wondering where the defects all the sudden appear from in the offsprings, but the parents had great color , lol. Do your homework that's all I'm saying .

Yes I spend most of my days on MFK if that is what you call homework... I don’t think using omega one along with a varied diet of other pellets is going to weaken the genes of my fish. May I ask what you feed your fish? I don’t really see what’s funny.

Dainichi looks really good. I’ll have to order some soon.
Dainichi ok , Northfin ok, you have to really read the ingredients and understand what you're reading understand what is a bad preservative and its effect on the fish DNA in future generations to come. Dont go for the old ingredient split trick, ect ect. Also poisoned fish that's farmed and passed to your table effect us the same way. In future generations. I'm just theoretically speaking. NO FACTS LOL.

I haven't seen Dainichi sold in AB in several yrs. Not a fan of it, originally designed for Koi (hence the name) and also uses a lot of terrestrial based plant matter, such a soybeans.
