Best Cichlid Pellet on the Market?

As mentioned in that sticky, I have raised & bred some of the most bloat prone fish on the planet over the years, and never had any bloat issues, even with young fish on diets that exceeded 50% protein. (NLS Grow) Overfeeding was also mentioned in that thread, it's easy for people to blame brands and/or protein levels when they are overfeeding their fish on a daily basis. I get "bloated" too when I get carried away at the dinner table. Stress comes in many forms, some people recognize that early on in their fish keeping careers, others never do and simply look elsewhere to lay the blame.

Petco sells NLS! In the US it should be pretty easy to find.
I feed mostly NLS, which ingredient-wise is probably the best one. I've also fed hikari bio-gold for years, and I also feed some of omega-ones products; notably their "kelp flakes" for vegetarian cichlids or cichlids prone to bloat from high protein diets.
I bought some hikari once and it stank up my water real bad and I got in trouble but my dovii loved it for that whole week or so i fed it. I hear lots of good things about the brand tho

I keep heterospila and a severum in a 135 right now and i feed a mix of nls thera a, nls float, nls algaemax, and kens veggie flakes. Ironically the severum prefers the omega one shrimp pellets over the rest.
i have the big shrimp pellets too for my bichir and catfish but my cichlids love even though they can only take 1 big pellet at a time and they just swim around with it hanging out there mouth lol

Mostly I go by what the fish will eat. Perhaps that's not the best metric but I've known no better. I'll have a look at that report. I imagine a fish will eat crazy stuff sometimes. I'm feeding zucchini and asparagus to my herbivores, along with Tetra algae wafers. I've fed zucchini for 40 years but just started asparagus this year and they like it, parboiled and split. I've never fed peas. I tried various carrots with no real success.

I've been feeding the Omega One color pellets and my cichlids like it better than Hikari Cichlid Gold but not as well as Bug Bites.

I started feeding some Fluval multi-protein formula cichlid pellets and they love that. They don't like API much. The API cichlid pellets go to the Mono Sebae and Mollies along with the Hikari excel with spirulina formula.

Edit: oh yes...The Tetra Cichlid sticks went in the worm farm. Now my fish won't eat the worms.

My oscars go absolutely crazy when they see the bag of Hikari Cichlid Gold. This is their favorite food. Even more than krill.
If I shake the bag in front of them they splash out a few ounces of water in anticipation.

I bought 2 cans of those Tetra sticks! Yes it was a mistake. But I feed my pbass Luther some everyday. He is getting pretty aggressive and demands a lot of food everyday. If I feed him well he seems to calm down. I feed at about 4:00-4:30pm. He eats some flakes first, Hikari sticks second and then either some freeze dried minnows (soaked in VitaChem) or krill. Doesn't satiate him (and minnows are expensive). So he gets 2 or 3 of these tetra sticks. I have never seen a fish grow so fast.

I used to feed the same food all the time. I did that for 40 years. Tetramin and Tetra Algae wafers and boiled or raw zucchini. Blood worms on occasion.

Now I have a lot of different food, and I feed a variety to every tank.

Some fish are picky, but my Mono Sebae eat everything like little pigs.

Except those sticks . . .

I know what you mean. Even Luther (pbass) sometimes will refuse. The oscars eat them but they're oscars! And then there is a big orange mess in the tank. Thank God for earth eaters. At least the stuff was cheap. I also feed a variety of foods. Just got some spirilla pellets for oscars and stuff in minnows sometimes for bass. Of course oscars also get the frozen peas.
