My pic was from a Kodak DX7590 point and shoot. It's far from glamorous.

any more pointers though, such as your lighting setup, flash and such?

i'm a photography noob:(

No flash, and 2 36" T8 6700k bulbs. I had the camera on a tripod. That's the only thing "special" that I did.

I actually found my jag at the LFS in the same tank as my Chinese perch:) Traded a protein skimmer (huge one) to get him.

and idea's where he came from or how long his family of fish goes back through captive breeding, like F4 or the like?

how long did it take you to get that shot and how many others did you take?:)

No clue. I kind of felt bad for him when I got him. The only reason the guy got him at the LFS is because he wanted another fish that was in with him.

I wish I knew his history.

I've taken so many pictures that I have absolutely no clue. I wasn't taking pictures of him specifically, I was just taking pictures of my new tank. The only reason I know that is because that pic is saved in my "new tank" folder on my computer lol.

when my current pair starts getting older like 8-9 (currently 3ish), i plan to do a series of breedings and fry raiseing over 6 months to a year to find any great looking fry's for features such as mo's fin's or rons scales. crossing my fingers that after 3 spawns or 1000+ fry i can find some great looking fella's.

a question for Gt, mo, rally, and ron-

how or what or where did you come across your gorgeous jaguars?
XR.They are a gorgeous pair you have indeed and you should be proud of them.As for your questions.I came across my boy accidentally at wet petz in brisbane.Someone else brought him in the same day.I was lucky to be the first to lay eyes on him and wasted no time in snavelling him up.He was a bit ratty around the edges but I got him healed in no time at all.
Also,I don't have a DSLR camera,on my to buy list however.I only have a Fuji Finepix S5700 digital camera,7.1 mega pixels.I don't have a tripod but maybe that would be a good investment.I use it in the A mode.Auto settings with adjustable shutter speed. I also run the macro feature at the same time.I don't use a flash and only rely on the lights above the tanks.1 x 48" 6700k Life-Glo and 1x 48"18000k Aqua-Glo.Usually when I take pics I turn all other lights off in the house except for the tank I want pics from at the time to stop any unwanted reflections....:)

very cool, thanks for the answers:D

They are all awesome but I'd have to say Rally's for best finnage and shape!

I was going to post this in the photo section...but as long it was going to be Jumbo I thought I would post it here. For those who don't know, Jumbo's father was a regular morph managuense...his mother was gold. You can't pick it up well on photo but at the base of the rear of his pelvic fins their is a band of color that looks like 24 carat gold. Really cool. I have to concentrate on photographing that. A while back he swallowed a three inch marble. I had to take him out and do some emergency service...pushing the ball out of his mouth with my thumbs trough his operculum...it was sheer panic when I saw him do that. I measured him at that time. From tip of nose to the base of his caudal peduncle he is 14.5" I don't know what the tail ads.

Thanks to all of the Jumbonatics. I have never owned a fish that has received as much attention as this guy. Literally...I have received e-mails and questions from people all over the world about this one particular fish. Without a doubt he is my SINGLE wet pet. The rest are just fish.

Some shots of the mad managuense. Shortly after this my cat walked on top of his tank...first time for that...and Jumbo hit the tank lid so hard that the cat launched itself up and damn near landed on the ceiling fan...last time for that.

I took about twenty photos in various mouth state of open. All I did was sit back and wiggle my toes at the front of the tank...then take the picture.

I set the flash and create a "staging area" where the light will be the most effective. These two shots were taken as he cruised through. It really picks up the irradescent colors in his fins.
