Hello, today im turning my 125 into a cichlid tank. I was wondering if my ornate and delhezi bichirs which are small would behave with them.

as long as they aren't small enough to be snack to the cichlids and not large enough to make a snack out of the cichlids then i find bichirs and cichlids go very well together, they all tend to do their own thing and not bother each other at all

my bichirs and cichlids get along just fine. orinate bichirs are more aggressive from what i've read so just keep an eye on fins

they go well together. But remember the bichers can eat the cichlids if they are small and fit the bichers mouth. My Ornate fights my cichlids sometimes and the cichlids cant mess with him. But they do good together.

What kind of cichlids do you guys keep with your bichirs?

I have 2 ornates and 2 delhezis that Im thinking about moving to my 265 with a pair of istlanums, a neet and an HRP. My concern is that the istlanum, should they spawn, will kill the bichirs. The bichirs are all around 6-7", the istlanum male 7" and the female 3.5-4"

The istlanum havent killed the others when theyve spawned the past 2x so maybe Im worried about nothing. I just recall my festae pair annihilating all 13 of their tankmates in one night when their eggs hatched.

Thanks!

i have 3 dels, senegal, poli and endli and they've been in with severums, multiple psittacus', and jurupari. i never had a problem with either messing with each other. my severums spawned all the time with them in the tank and they allowed the bichirs to get quite close to their spawning site

My EBJD gets territorial every once in a while and decides to pick on my Ornate. The ornate just keeps swimming like nothing happend and has never shown any aggresion towards anything that doesn't fit in its mouth.

right now the cichlids are small. i have 2 baby peacock cichlids, 3 geophagus daemons, and 3 jack dempseys. the jd's and pck bass are pretty small compared to the delhezi and can fit in its mouth. the ornate would have trouble but ive seen the ornate easily gobble rosies.

i have a 15 inch ornate a 9 inch ornate and two 11-12 inch endililcheri in with my cichlids which include a male jag a female festae a butti and a blue moorii all cichlids are full grown or very close to fully grown and the only thing i see is my ornate and jag trade a punch every once in awile but no harm and everything seems fine.
