I'm not trying to start a "fire". I admit that I didn't read the last half of this thread, I read the first half about 6 moths ago and that is what got me interested in sani-tred. I'm sorry that wizzin is having so much trouble with the product. I thought the product did what it said it would, the directions need work but over all things went smooth.I was just throwing in my .02
I would imagine it works pretty well with plywood. It's the concrete block that causes the problem. Rather that the product needs to be applied in HUGE amounts to seal block vs wood.

I need to update this thread. I know. It's just that it's fly fishing season again and I've been fishing and tying flies more than anything. I've got some cash coming soon and I'm planning on using it to blitz finish the tank. I want it running bad! It's a mess right now.

As for the glass connection, I'm putting concrete up to the stripped bare wood of the glass frame, then using silicone from glass to wood to pond armor. It's claimed that silicone adheres to pond armor pretty well, so that's what I'm hinging that connection on. I actually was thinking about a pond liner the other day too. I think if I removed the glass and used a pond liner, I might be able to get a better seal. I dread the thought of cutting that glass out though!

Well no one can blame you for getting out there and getting some Fly fishin done ;)

I'm interested to see how that will work with the sillycone... won't that be ALOT of space to cover? what about covering the frame with the concrete and then just using the sillycone to go straight from the glass to the pond armor?

Yeah, I actually meant that the exposed wood would only be about a 1/2" or so the whole way around. About a 1-1/2" strip of silicone the whole way around.

Silicone bonds to pond armor very well. I got one of their sample packs when I was trying to decide what I was going to use. I siliconed a piece of broken tank to a piece of plywood coated with pond armor. There is no way I was going to get it off without breaking the glass. Pond armor looks like a great product, the only reason I didn't use it was because it seemed a little fragile on top of a soft material like wood. On top of concrete it should be fine. Good luck with what ever you decide.

LOL. Yup. Tell me about it. I did decide that I'm going to use a recirculation pump off of my hot water heater for the house to heat the tank with a stainless steel coil.

My wife wants this done too, so that should light a fire. I did some grinding tests to get the sanitred off, and it turned out promising. I think I'm going to rip the metal lath off now and strip the sanitred garbage off. Get it to bare concrete and install the pond armor. Since winter's starting here I'll have more time to work on this.

Fly fishing has been taking all my spare time recently. I'm going steelhead fishing this weekend.
