Building a 1500 Gallon plywood & glass tank

If things go smooth from here on out I should be ready to water seal the new tank in a couple of weeks. Then install the window a week later, then a fill test by the end of Februrary and a full running system by mid March.

Thats a big span your planning there. I'd probably double up the whole base and screw or lag bolt 2 2x8's together for the joists and the vertical risers. Just make sure all your joints are as tight as possible.

Hmmm even with the middle support the span is only 46"?

Damn I will have to look into this some more..

Actually you might be ok. Didnt see you you had the middle support. I'd check on the price of a 2x12. You can never be to safe when it comes to 12K lbs of water.

yeah would put some more supports under the tank if possible, and try to spread out the weight of the tank as much as possible. that's a lot of water. if you don't have it evenly spread after a few years the concrete WILL crack, but as long as you do some major supports and distribute the weight you should be fine
