Ha-ha Arowanana you know your right the typo is funny huh, guess when you’re mad and typing fast because someone is using your name to posting bogus stuff about you and what you’re trying to do, so yeah I guess the typo I made is pretty funny.

^lol
seriously though, cables would not have to be that thick and tensioning them wouldnt be a problem, for the rusting part, maybe use stainless steel cables(do they make those?) or dip the cable in some kind of rubberized flexible coating

wood, FG, and cables, to make a 16-18k gallon tank...

It'll be cheaper/safer/quicker/easier to use concrete...

You are trying to build something big, cheaply, which will end up being a disaster.

The cost of the size of beams alone to build the frame of the tank, to support the weight/pressure of the water would be immense. Think of building a boat, but having it hold water, and no osmosis to equalize the pressure...

Listen to the experts and through this 'learning experience' as you put it, do it right the first time.

If you want big frames that would be removable, get those giant containers like that one guy did. Or else build it out of concrete, because wood and FG aren't going to work with something so big.

The problem with concrete is the weight principals and this aquarium is going in a house if the need ever arise you could not disassemble the tank if need to be moved or broken down for any reason so that is why the other options are critical.
