Quovadis I thank you for the kind words.

On this forum you will find many hobbyists successful with very different methods. I try and explain my methods of keeping my fish realizing that they might not necessarily be right for everyone. I also analyze others methods and solutions to improve my skills.

The hope is that members on this forum will try and provide their monster fish whether they are 6" or 6 feet with the best living conditions they can. Also I try and point out it is not that important how fast they grow their fish but how long they can keep them in good health and thus perhaps enjoy them for many years.

Remember what Lucretius said "Life is granted to none for freehold....But to all on lease"

So enjoy your time and your life my MFK friend.

Rusty Wessel just kept shooting pictures and kept replacing batteries.

Here are a few more.

The first 2 pictures are a fish I bought at the Caoac annual convention in London Ontario. I was very fortunate to be able to go because of an injury to one of my hands preventing me from driving there. However friends helped out and with the help of an electric wheelchair I attended. There were four young and very enthusiastic hobbyists from Quebec who brought 6 Myleus to sell in the auction. 5 were described as Yellow hooks. And one the narrow bar Myleus schomburgki (which I believe will be placed in it's own species someday and separated from the wide bar). Four of the 5 were Myleus Rhomboidalis the other is the fish you see here. He is not in full colour as he was swimming to far from the glass for Rusty to get a great shot.

He is a Myleus micans. I thank the incredible Brian Ma for identifying him for me. This is not a monster but a really beautiful "pacu".

There is an fantastic hobbyist in Japan who has collected his own Myleus micans and had a friend display some of his vast collection of Myleus on another forum. Brian Ma sent me the link and the Japanese hobbyist showed some specimens of this fish that are the size of large wide bar Myleus Schomburgki (12" to 14"). Absolutely stunning bright red fins and long extensions on the dorsal. The Japanese hobbyists overall knowledge of the
Characidae is amazing as is his collection.

This fish is in the 15,000 after a one year quarantine in a 180g.

The 3rd picture is a malawi Aulonacara living in a 120g. I show you this picture because he was in an unidentified species bag of 1/2" fish I bought at a Kitchener Aquarium Society annual auction for 4 for a dollar. I raised it up and was lucky to have such an attractive fish for 25 cents.

This hobby has many rewards and not always do the prizes have to be "monster".

If you dont mind me asking how much does it cost to make and then maintain a 50,000gallon tank?

Was just having a debate with my friend and It would be cool if you can give us an idea of how much it would be.
