Sorry I was just wishing for an extinct species.

Megapiranha is a genus of extinct serrasalmid characin fish from the Late Miocene (between 8-10 million years ago) of Argentina described in 2009.[1] Megapiranha reached lengths of up to 1 meter long (40").
Please dont apologize, I was playing along, off course I googled it first ;)

By the way, is the James Martin in your pics of martin's aquarium fame?

No

He was a manager at one of Big Al's stores in Mississauga I believe and went into another line of work several years ago. I recognized him. He was giving Rusty and Viral a ride around the area and taking them to the airport later.

I just gave away my hatiensis pair... Still have about 40 1" fry though... I'm starting to gear towards strictly SA species now... I've only got a few CA cichlids left... I'm currently growing out trimacs and Amphilophus saggitae to get breeders...
What SA species are you keying in on?

Do you still have your big tank running?

A few more of Rusty Wessel pics (ages are years I've owned the fish) All except the Wallago leerii have been measured by ruler within the past 2 years.

1. Piaractus brachypomus 35" 55 lb 22 years,

2. Sclerapages formosus (green) 26" 10 years,

3. Lepisosteus osseus 38" 11 years,
Leptobarbus hoeveni 26" 15 years

4. Wallago leerii top-male approx 49" 88lbs 12 years
Wallago leeri bottom-female approx 60" 125lbs 20 years

None of these fish were fast grown and are still alive. Friends whose fish were grown 1" to 2" a month have been dead for more than a decade in some cases.

Well, to answer your first question... Any I can get my hands on! LOL I like to think of them in two groups... Hot water fish and cool water fish...

To answer your second question along with the first, the 1200 gallon tank is still running and has "hot water" SA cichlids in it;

Breeding oscars
9- Psittacum
7-amazonorum
spactabalis
breeding rotkiel severums
Trio of turquoise severums
4-Aquidens diadema
and soon to have;
6-Wild uaru
6-green terrors
12 geophagus altifrons
5-"red shoulder" severums (adults with atleast one pair)

The main focus of the tank will be the psittacum... That's the goal atleast...

As for the cold water species... They will be in the fish room! No heaters! Yay! Can't wait! I'm shooting for a lot of the gymnygeophagus species that are all the rage lately it seems... Just built two 180's for the fish room and will have many many other tanks available...
