arapaimag,
Do you keep common cichlids like Jack Dempsey (Nandopsis octofasciatum) or Green Terror (Aequidens rivulatus)? Thank you.
I sure do.
I actually like all fish and not influenced by others in what I keep.
I've had Jack Dempsey Since I was 10 years old. I have them in my 52,000, 15,000 (even bred there), and 2 180's. I've also owned the electric blue strain but non at present of those.
The fish has an interesting history and various scientific names:
1903 Heros octofasciatus (Regan)
1904 Cichlasoma hedricki (Meek)
1905 Cichlasoma biocellatum (Regan)
1906-1908) Cichlasoma Archocentrus biocellatum (Regan)
1905- Cichlasoma octofasciatus
1905- Cichlasoma nigrofasciatum (incorrect because the convict cichlid already had that name in that same time period).
1905- Cichlasoma octofasciatum
1905- Nandopsis octofasciatum
1983 Kulander restricted the use of Cichlasoma
1998 Archocentrus octofasciatus (Schmitter Soto) 2005 (Miller)
2005 Rocio octofasciata
I also have 6 Green terrors (Aquidens rivulata) in the 15,000.
I keep all sorts of common fish like zebra danios, platys, goldfish, neons, cardinals etc. I keep fish I like, some are common some might be unusual.
