Not only do I like the pictures but your attitude as well. What do you do for living? (profession, job) I know it's (too) personal but I'm not allowed to send pm.

Glad you enjoyed Rusty Wessels camera work.

In Quaoar there is not much to do. Every few years Pluto is visible but not much action there either. It's tough when your home is no longer considered even a mini planet.

I was lucky to even get a job.

I hope you can keep a secret!!!

I'm an junior apprentice guppy counter (5th class) and my favourite pastime is watching grass grow (slowly).

As William Congreve penned in "Love for Love" (1695)

"Oh fie Miss, Do not kiss and tell"

Hmmm..........Like the Pima and his mermaid in your avatar.

Are they swimming in Amber's moat?

I didn't know Pima's liked salt water......

Great Li fixed the picture uploading problem....see why I respect him so much

Another Rusty Wessel picture.

This is a Campylomormyrus rhynchophorus species. Notice the upper lip extends almost as far as the bottom lip. Which is quite a bit different from the common Gnathonemus petersii which has a very small upper lip and a very long lower lip.

It's a hard fish to get in my area of the galaxy.

It grows to about 9" or 10". Mine are between 5" and 6". I bought them from Oliver Lucanus (Below Water) in Montreal in 2010. Brian Ma picked them up at the airport and brought them to me.

I have 6 in this 120g. I have another 4 in a 4 Mormyridae species group in another 120g. These fish use a low wattage sachs organ located in the body and near the caudal fin to detect prey, other fish and food. They have a larger brain to body mass than perhaps almost any other animal (especially me). The purpose of the large brain is for communication between their own species. They use different frequency signals and do not interfere with the signals of the other species of elephant nose in their tank.

Mine eat crushed market shrimp and bloodworms.

If you do buy these fish please don't buy just one. Buy a group of 6 or more as they have trouble communicating when they are the only ones in the tank.

If any of you own them please pass on your experience with them.

Rusty took this picture of one of my Pygocentrus cariba in the past they were known as Serrasalmus notatus. I got 2 of them in 2001 from Sean at Biotope Inc in Montreal. Both are still alive and doing well. This one is in a 180.

Rusty took this picture of one of my Pygocentrus piraya. This one I bought in 2006 from The Aquarium Center Randelstown Plaza near Baltimore Maryland.
Got it at about 1 1/2". It's in a 180. I have 2 others. One bought the same day/place and another bought from Oliver Lucanus and Sean Biotope Inc in Montreal in 1997 at about 2 1/2". All three are between 12" and 14" now and kept in separate 180's.

One thing I do in most of my piranha tanks is breed african cichlids and bristlenose plecos in with them. Also I always have a shoal of guppies. I give the africans protection with rocks and large plastic plants.

This provides exercise and a food source for the Piranha. When I do a tear down on their tanks I often give away the bristlenose and cichlids to friends or add them to the 52,000 gallon mix.
