I think the only way making something like this would make sense to me is if you found a way to charge people to come and see it so that you could make some money. This is beyond obsession. Beyond hobby. My 90 gallon tank can stress me out at times so I get stressed just THINKING about your ocean.

I have just about 100 gallons tops, and to be honest once the tank is settled and everytjing works as it should, all you have to do is sit in front of it, watch your fish and relax....

i only do water changes every other week, my culture is perfect, so are the water values. My motto, if it aint broke, dont fix it!

When I think about what he has, my heart skips a beat... what I wouldnt give to have something like that next to my house, where I could go and sit, watch the fish do their thing and not worry about anything for a few hours.... And to be honest, i dont think I would want to share it with just anyone....

How big is your gar now?
He's about 20" now. I have a grow thread in the gar section. Went from 2" to 20 in about 4 months. So growing quick.

Your tank sounds great. You have a lot of very good hobbyists in your country.

My tank is actually built attached to the house and the entry into the viewing area of the tank is accessed by going from my third fish room into it in the basement. Above the tank is a 972 square foot bird room also accessed from the house as I put doors into these rooms by going through existing walls. The bird room floor has a removable section so that we can lower the boats into the tank when we need them to work in it.

A picture by James Martin.

The Tilapia is 23" measured in Feb 2010. The Long nose gar is about 38". The Piaractus is between 35 to 36". And the guy in the red shirt is about 72".

Do you know who that cichlid guy is?

and do you know a cichlid named after him?

I cant find my previously posted question so I try again. Couldn't you use some plexiglass-like material under the birds above the fish to use sunlight?

Hmmmmm..........I thought that was a good idea also and actually did do it. 17 years ago. But it caused moisture problems in the floor of the bird room and I had to replace the entire floor.
