That is just amazing.
Im stunned! Here I was thinking about how large of a tank it would be to upgrade my 18" red tail catfish to a 300 gallon tank till I ran across your tank! It blows me away, one day if I'm lucky enough..I will hope to have a tank 1/8th that size.

Until you are able to build a very big tank go ahead with the 300 gallon. Your redtail will love it.

Though I am having a lot of trouble finding a 250-300 gallon tank actually. I have tried many of the Seattle classifieds and no luck. I was hoping to have one custom made though then again being only 16 my budget is limited.
I would hate to let him go since I rescued him and brought him back to health from a cruel pet shop who stuck him in a 30 gallon tank.. I really don't know where to look for such a large tank, do you know of anywhere that sells tanks for a good deal? I don't mind if it's been used at all.

Maybe for the present why not consider building an indoor pond in the basement. That way your main expense would be the liner and wood. I built one several years ago that was about 14' by 6' by 3'. I used 6x6's and just 40mm pond liner which I bought at the season's end and got it about wholesale price. You could ask your family for either the material or cash to buy it instead of birthday/christmas presents. This would provide a lot more water for your fish and if built with plywood on one side you could insert a piece of glass for viewing also.
