Thanks. I haven't figured out what filter I'm going with yet and am also looking the selection at 123ponds.com
I think I remember reading that you only run your filter once a week, is this sufficent to keep your tank clean?
I was wondering if you had any leakage in the tank walls through holes from the ties for the form?
Since the tank has been running for such a long time I have changed the
pattern of filtration and amount of water changes. I have mentioned in
earlier replies that I am unsatisfied with the clarity the past year and
will replace the sand and very likely increase the number of filters. I have
had to feed the fish more than in the past due to adding 3 baby red tails
(Now 28 to 33 inches) and my 3 baby AG's. (28 to 32 inches). Because of this
the filter no longer does a good job. Also Ionizers were suggested by MFK
members and will be added as will pre filters.
I get a lot of Malaysian livebearer snails, bones from the fish that I feed
and some small pieces of lava rock clog up the filter baskets of the pumps.
As I mentioned 2 knowledgeable filter experts (Tom & Greg) from Fish Farm
Supplies in Elmira Ontario visited today and will advise me after a few days
of study.
One thing for sure will be replacing the sand with a 5 density mixed media
from Fish Farm Supplies a distributor of Aquatic Eco systems as they brought
about 1600 lbs of mixed media with them.
I will also be changing the heater.
Everything will be shown with pictures and details given when completed
(approx 1 month).
I have had no leaks..............................................yet.
