Ok I have about 350 bucks worth of best buy reward zone coupons and im looking to get my first real camera. I am looking to spend around 1k total without the coupons. I want something nice but easy to use for a first timer. I have a 2 year old and pets so something good for that. I would also like, if possible, a set with some different lenses....something regular and something mega zoom telephoto or whatever.

So what do yall think?

EDIT....I would also like to be able to have a over head flash for fish pics...I dont know if any camera can do that or only certian ones.

what do you shoot for the most part other than fish? a mega telephoto will cost you 5 digits, there mostly used by Pro's for sports or nature. a small telephoto zoom will cost much less than the huge primes. you will want a overhead flash or 2 (slave flash) for fish, aswell as a small zoom lens or micro lens. Higher the quality higher the price tag so shop around.

I shoot nikons so i'd reccomend them. D80 body would be a good cam body to start with, there lower mid level, you'll want to stay away from the entry level nikons- D40-D60.

the nikon speedlights to look at are SB-600's or SB-800's.

Cannon G-9, or G10 when it comes out....while it doesn't have the different lenses....it's probably the best value out there right now....along with the olympus stylus 1030.

Other than fish it will be my little 2 year old girl....my car...just what ever. I probably dont need a 5 digit zoom lense...maybe I would do better with the macro...thats for the close ups right? The only digi camers I ever used in the past are the small cannon simple 5-7mp auto aim and shoot. But I like to take pics of random stuff and when I get my tank back up I would love to get some cool fish shots like I see on here. So nothing top end fancy but good solid performance bang for the buck.

Nikon D90!!! Also, the D800 price is bound to drop big time since the D90 is now available... I think.

Well it has to come from best buy and they dont have the D800. But I like a few things more on the D90 than the D80 like face detection and the bigger lcd screen.

So take a look at this link and tell me what else you would get with it...is there no flash at all...mem card...battery...what other lense?

So no cannons or sonys?

I think I am going to go for the D90. Might as well spend the $ on the camera and just get more stuff for it down the line like fancy flashes and lenses.

The lense that comes with the one in my link...is that a good all around one?

Ohh...and I never really looked at how much some of these camera cost...I find it nuts to spend 10k on a camera lol. But I would drop that on a built motor for my car hahaha.

Thanks yall....looks like I might have to see if I can take a camera class so I can use it to its fullest potential.

I'd go a D90. GREAT camera loved it as soon as I picked it up but as of now I am using a D100. Which is a great camera but not near the D90. D100 was $2200 5 years ago now worth maybe 1K if that :(. Love it though I use a SB-800 and a top flash SB-80DX
