upon a lil research into these... nikons seem to be your best bang for the buck...im looking into a D80 or D90 when i get one... what are the D800s etc???

Nikon D90!!! Also, the D800 price is bound to drop big time since the D90 is now available... I think.
that's how it normally works. another option would be a D200, they are basically a D80 but an older version with more avalible features and options.

the reason best buy doesn't have D800's on there list is because they don't exist aswell as best buy being selling entry and lower mid level DSLR's, you won't find D300's or higher models there, i've checked.

Well I want new too so I can get one of there over priced warentees....but a good thing to have on a 1300 dollar camera. I could probably find this camera online at a better price but right now I am looking at 345 of reward sone bucks and i'll get the camera as soon as one of my 12% off comes in so that would be another 115....so around 840 for it. That seems good to me!

XR is there any lenses you would sugest from BB weather it be a macro or zoom. I guess theres no lense that is both...or is the one with the camera more like one or the other?

Thanks for the help!

there are many zooms that get a macro title placed on the end of them and have macro switches, but they are not true macro's. True macro's are prime lenses such as a 55mm, 60mm or 105mm. My current micro is a AF-S 60mm 2.8G.

If you shop around you'll see plenty of larger zooms, a 70-300mm is a popular choice, and many have this false macro title.

The choice of lenses will all depend on price range you'll be willing to pay.

There are plenty of budget lenses, which you may want to start with, but as you get farther into photography (if you do)- You may find yourself buying higher quality glass with large maximum apertures and other quality features such as VR (vibration Reduction).

Kit lenses such as the 18-55mm are decent small budget zooms, and can be used for a variety of things, true macro- No, but they are plenty useful.

Yeah im not looking to drop big bucks on it. I like taking pics...and maybe one day after I learn what im doing maybe ill get into the high $ stuff but for now I want something good. I figure with a nice base like the D90 I can get fancy lenses and filters and what not.

So the zoom lenses that are also called macros with a switch but not really macros...will they still take pretty good macro shots? That sounds more like a lense I would look for at this point if it would be good macro shots....

I am getting excited now lol...I need to wait for my 12% off coupon to come in the mail, but I want to go buy this thing now to play lol.

Do you know if this camera takes wide screen pics? Like if I wanted to cycly the pics on my plasma TV it would be cool if they would fill the screen. I read that the D90 takes vid in 720p. I dont really need that tho becasue I ahve a sony camcorder that records in 1080i or 720p....and wow what vid it takes!

i don't have experience with cycleing pics on Tv's, but you'll most likely need to crop your image to fit correctly on the screen if it is widescreen. i'm sure theres also the option of black boxes on the sides of the Tv, to make non cropped images with a more square shape fit nicely.

for what i've seen and used the zoom macro's still take decent macro and other shots. I have no experience with video camera's or the D90's vid capability's, so my expretice would stop there. :)

So let me ask you...since im not a pro photo person...what makes the D90 so much more than the D60...would I notice a difference.

On the other end of the spectrum...what makes the cannon 50 more than the nikon 90...is there any major good thing about it? I always had cannon point and shoots and liked them...thats why I ask.

just check out nikon website and compare features. D60's can't auto focus with older nikkor lenses, aswell as many other features, different sensors CMOS V.S CCD, different senor resloution. etc. there are some big things to look into before settleing on a SLR.

Both companies nikon and canon make excellent camera's. the preferance may come down to something as simple as weight or noise handle capability's at high ISO. DSLR's are on a whole different level than P&S cams, they are desired so hghly because of the control you can put on your pictures. If i have time later in the day, i'll compare the cams you asked about. :)
