Camera experts...what DSLR would you get from best buy?

Ok got a few more questions...if you had to pick one...flash or another lense what would you add to the D90 from Best Buy.

I am assuming the lense that comes with the D90 from BB (18-105mm) will be ok with taking some up close macro like pics. So if lense, I was looking at this one since it seems to pick up where the lense that comes with the D90 drops off.

If you think flash I was looking at the SB-800 but on nikons site they have a new SB-900...should I skip best buy since they dont have it and go for the 900?

the 70-300mm VR is a great nikkor lens, i've accually had mine for sale here for little while, but have been strongly considering keeping it, for it's range, sharpness and light weight (most of my photography includes walking on trails and transportation in a camera bag).

i don't know anyone who's bought the SB-900 yet, but the Sb-800 is a great staple flash that many people (including myself) use. Ebay currently has some Sb-900's for around $450, if your willing to spend that on a new flash, go for it, sb-800's and 600's are decently cheaper.

Ahh tempting to buy yours, I read a lot of good reviews on that lense tonight. But I need to have it best buy so I can also put it on my BB card too...3 years no interest...not that it will take that long...but im using my cash for the 240 im in the process of setting up.

So if you had to choose would you get that lense or the flash? Seems the flash might be more usefull I guess.

Is there any real significant advantage to the 900 over the 800 that you can see. Some of this is still greek to me lol but im learning! I am really going to have to take a class I think...im getting excited about this DSLR...I have always wanted a nice camera other than a P&S! I want to go get it now...but I know as soon as I do there will be some deal I will miss out on....just...have....to....wait 2 more weeks. Not that I need a better deal....im just like that. I do that with everything I get from BB....I got my 50" plasma in my bedroom that was like originaly 1799 for like 9something. It went on sale...12% off...coupons I had...tripple points FTW.


Filters for the lense...anything pops in your head as a must have or not really needed.

Anything else you cxan think of I should look at? I have a tripod already and will get a extra battery.

Man on man...I couldnt wait to get the camera so I went yesterday to get it....did I score!!!

So the lady there showed me a kit that had the 90D with the extra 70-300 zoom lense, extra battery, and a nice camera case for 1,980something. To get the package was 140 savings right there so I said great i'll take it. But then I noticed that kit had the 10-55 lens on the camera. I wanted the 18-105 lense I had been seeing on it. So she looked around and the only D90 she had in the store was the one that had the 18-105 so she said ok we will try to make that work for the kit. YES...SCORE! So then I was like well do you have the flash im looking for ...the SD800. Turns out the only one is the floor model...not hooked to a camera so its new more or less...with 10% off so I said shoot...ill take that too. Then I need a memory card and they had a 8gig SDHC on sale for 35 bucks....so I was happy as can be.

Now we go to ring out....I have a fist full of 10% off's, triple points, and 360 in best buy bucks. First the camera kit...was supposed to be around 2k...well I decide on the 4 year protection plan (covers it if I drop it) for 300. After one of my 10% off coupons and the way she rings it up with the kit discount I get the camera, battery, case and zoom lense for 2200 with tax...and with the better 18-105 lense...score! Now the flash....I got another 10% off with my coupon and with the BB bucks I got the flash for a whopping 1.07 with tax!!!!!! Then I had a few left for the mem card and got that for 20 bucks. All in all I saved almost 800 I think and got the better lense and a nice warentee!!! To top it all off I will get another 60-100 best buy bucks again for the points I got...and I also got 150 bucks worth of coupons for GARMAN and I think thats those nav units....my sister wants to get one...so I got a hook up for her.

Not to mention this camera is bad ass...thank yall so much...I have been fooling with it non stop and took over 300 pics so far. Havent looked at them on a computer yet because im out of town...but that thing is NICE. So fast!!

ill give you credit on buying a sick cam but IMO i still think you went to the wrong store (but given the bb rewards and said coupons) cant fight with that. Enjoy ur cam and the bad ass pics ur gonna get with it

I know I could have gotten better prices online...and maybe even as good as a price as I did get. But my company (fam owned) uses best buy and I have my reward zone card in place so I get all the points. So the 360 in bb bucks was a freebe to me. On top of that I use my BB card to get 18mo no interest. So thats why I wait till I have all these BB bucks and coupons to buy from there. Other wise I would go online!
