Still surviving, got flu pretty bad still (normal flu, not piggy flu) so not much has happened on the pond. Put everything in place but not screwed together and found i'll still need to cut a couple more pieces to complete it all. Should have internet at home again on Monday so might be able to post pictures then of how it should look when done.
Planning in my head the next build stages:
Fit ply cladding on the inside (must order ply!) remembering to cut holes for the filter intake pipe and the overflow pipe before fixing it all down.
Window glass and frames need ordering. Glass will be 3x 600mmx800mmx10mm thick which should hopefully do the job. The mounting frames will be made from metal angle designed so the frames are screwed to the wooden pond frame and then glass sits in the frames. All topped off with a huge dose of silicone of course!
There will be 3 'liners' in total. Only the bottom layer will be pond liner and this layer will go in before the window frames are screwed and seal in place. Once this first liner is in, the windows are fitted, and all the plumbing is done then there will be a test fill to make sure it's all actually strong enough and doesn't leak. Once it's all drained and dried out another 2 layers of liner will be fitted and sealed in. The plan is that these 2 liners will actually be blue waterproof tarpaulin as i like the idea of the tank having blue sides and is considerably cheaper than pond liner. I'm sure i've seen an outdoor pond on here made with tarp so hope it won't be a problem!
Decorate before filling. I did plan on having a fountain in the middle but scrapped this idea now as i'd like a lid. I'd still like some kind of colum in the middle as i think i might have come up with a way to make the top strong enough to sit glass tanks for smaller fish on and still allow access to the pond form the back (but i'm not even thinking of starting on that until all this is done) And would need a central colum to help support it.
Finally, move filters, pumps, heaters, and fish over and enjoy.
I'd like to have it done before the end of the year..........if i'm lucky.....
