Thoughts/info on mini roses?

As others have said, "The plant must be able to adapt to fully submerged roots long term". Other plants that can do that and live in relatively low light are: Peace Lilly, Lucky Bamboo(that I know of) What makes pothos above and beyond these other plants is the rate of growth. Slow growing plants, even if they do adapt to wet indoor conditions would not absorb enough nitrate to make them worthwhile. If you have a window with higher lighting, i.e. some direct sunlight coming in the window, Black Mangrove, Cattails and dwarf Papyrus might be useful. But why reinvent the wheel? We have pothos!!!

On roses: Roses are the most fungus, mold and mildew prone plants in all existence. Long-term prognosis on roses in the aquarium?
FAILURE.

EDIT: True Taro(the edible type) might also be useful and it can grow fast in high lighting. I would caution that uncooked Taro is high in Oxalic acid so I suspect it might not be 100% fish safe in a closed system. If you are growing Taro in your tank I would like to hear about it and any toxicity issues you might have encountered.

Tiller it depends on the plant and other variables, within a week or so you should be good

Well its been a week or so and i dont see any roots but i dont see any death either. So thats why i ask cause it seems to be sustaining the leaves on the vine like it is but i like the lok of the roots one of my plants has a root so long i burried it in the substrate and the plant is up top on a 55 lol

I finally bought some! I'll be putting them in my Emperor 400 for my red texas and vieja grow out tank. Once I clean and clip the roots should I put pot scrubbies around the roots instead of gravel? Just so I can squeeze them out if there's too much debris in there. Is there any other advice for putting these in a HOB?

just stick them in. gravel will impede flow, scrubbies will become root bound and you will be stuck with them forever.

Thanks.

What about getting all the dirt out? Do I just have to keep spraying it with water? Its kind of hard to do that now since its winter in Chicago. Id have to do this in my bathtub. Or can I cut some of the roots so I can separate them to get the dirt out?
