Cheap plants, less nitrate! POTHOS

F1, I told you this sticky/w thread additions are too long. Lol.
not reading the whole thing to find out: What if a tank with pothos needs salt @1 Tablespoon per 10 galls?? does it kill the plant...damage roots.. does it matter if plant roots are younger vs well established?

I can tell you I use more salt than that with no issues. Pothos are quite forgiving.

Thanks! it's Spring & I got decent priced potted pothos for my tanks. have to rinse & trim roots, but a couple fish in one tank need salt for a while.
didn't want to end up with shriveled, yellow dying plants.

You better read it! Lol

I have a small potho's plant stuck in my overflow box,because of the location of light it receives from a basement window , and the silver dollar's in my 180 gal. Ever since using the plant for nitrate control, my nitrate level has never exceeded past 10 ppm , and my bioload is massive!!! Inhabitants 4 ornate bichir, 3 senegal bichir, 2 endlicheri bichir, 1 del bichir, and 5 silver dollars!!! I don't do massive water changes, and always test my water parameter's. Also using pothos with my african butterfly fish, and bichir growout, also have java fern, and hornwort in that tank. Nitrate reading after test zero.

Incorporating plants into aquariums is always a win win when it comes to the ladies! Glad yours came around!

In my vivariums & house plants I use aquarium water to give my plants fert:

Works great!
