Cheap plants, less nitrate! POTHOS

Dude they are ALL over. Try Home Depot and Lowes. Worse comes to worst, go to a garden center.

Ive called all of those places man. Lowes is the only One I havnt tried I guess thats my last place the other garden centers are like 45 minutes away better off ordering them for 5 dollar shipping. It cost more to drive my Big 8 Silverado there ya know.

Edit: Lowes has them haha the last place that I didnt try. Just came in today I guess Gonna load up my tank tonight :headbang2

I thought I read somewhere that these can grow completely submerged... Is that true? I prefer canopies on my tanks, especially with a 6 year old running around...

I'm about 20 after my twice a week WC so I will see in a few days if this has an effect looks good anyway! Hell I even put some in my feeder tank lol. Used a couple domes from a warning light to hold the plants on each corner.

NOt sure....havent tested for em in ages. The fish sure seem happy and their colors couldnt be brighter.

Lower nitrates attribute to more active and healthy fish, a good diet, space and decor also matter

Fair enough lol. No where near me sells these things I tried local place and two walmarts they act like am an idiot asking if they have them... ugh I really wanna skip the freight charge lol

Pothos is a general term for a semi aquatic plant, although its only the roots that should be in the water, leaves will die submerged. Ask for ivy. may be in hanging baskets, or go for yourself and look, very distinctive leaves and vines, obviously they come a bit smaller

Yes, sometimes named different

Question, what I am wanting to do on my 125 is find a small narrow basket to fit between my glass tops and the back of the tank. Anyone have ideas?

Leaves need oxygen, they will generally last a month or so fully submerged

Good/cheap investment for your fish !

Is it ok to have a little bit of dirt on the roots or does it all have to come off??

How long does it usually take to start consuming nitrate? My levels were up high like normal after 3 days.

The plant is gonna need to establish itself first. I got some root growth after 3 days. But I also have some intense lighting over mine. I should have tested my nitrates before adding the pothos. Once I see some fresh new pothos plants available Im gonna grab another and ditch the lotus that is struggling. THe lotus will go outside into a wine barrel.
