Cheap plants, less nitrate! POTHOS

The plant is gonna need to establish itself first. I got some root growth after 3 days. But I also have some intense lighting over mine. I should have tested my nitrates before adding the pothos. Once I see some fresh new pothos plants available Im gonna grab another and ditch the lotus that is struggling. THe lotus will go outside into a wine barrel.

Yeah I hear ya I have a bunch I also added a light above mine as well. Unfortunately I have bigger fish to fry. One of my filters quit working at some point yesterday and now I have a spike and cloudy water AGAIN my tank just got stable two weeks ago...this sucks

Well I can tell you one of my tanks had a blood red reading on nitrates before I put the pothos in 3 days ago and now its a dark orange but no red...this really works so I added some house plants to a little bigger tank yesterday

One of my tanks had very high ammonia and high nitrite due to me putting in a pot that was from outside and only rinsed not boiled...I put pothos in the hob and ammonia and nitrite both read 0 now after 5 days of being in there but my water is cloudy

I am interested in adding these plants to my 3 sumps. I have a 125g sump (60x24x20), a 120g sump (48x24x24), and a 40g sump. I do not like sunlight entering my fish room due to algae growing. What kind of lighting should I use? The sumps are below the tanks enclosed by the stands.

Chizzle, depending on how your stands are set up between the supports, you could mount 1 or 2 T8 lights inside of the stand with a light timer and that'd be more than enough light for pothos.

The plant doesn't need direct light, and can grow in a room with the blinds closed 24/7.

Sounds very interesting, I will scope out my local home depot and lowes for supplies.

Just worried about my fishroom looking like a jungle, how often are you all trimming these plants?

Also what is the best way to make those hydroponics baskets float or only sit partially submerged?

Good to know, was going to ask about that. Thinking about trying some in my smaller tank in my sons room, since he isn't home all week because of my work schedule, the blinds never get opened in there... Now to find a small shower caddy/basket deal...
