Converting Cichla off Live Food

I also wonder the same question as the previous post.. I just picked up to peacocks at about 4" that are going in with a couple other cichlids roughly the same size but slightly smaller who have already been converted to pellets and krill. So I assume I will attempt the method described at the begin of this thread but do not want to feedthem live onlu until they grow two more inches. So another question I have is will they eat small crickets? Because I also have reptiles and would like to avoid another pet store to visit often. Would crickets be healthy for them? I cant see them being any worse than a all feeder shrimp diet.

hey everyone im new to this site just got my first p bass about a month ago he was about 3 inches.... I converted him to pellets and now he also eats raw grocery store shrimp. Really wasnt that hard he wouldnt eat for about 3 days on the forth day he must of been really hungry cause he attacked those pellets like crazy... same with the shrimp two days he wouldnt hit them third day he gobbled them up.

Omg i tried this on my ocells and there both about 2inches i got them off feeders and onto shrimp and carnivore pellets dont need feeders due to me trying this so ealry :) thanks!

im still trying, this method my 5" occel begs like a dog and will snag anything out of my hand but wont swollow anything but live fish, luckily i have the garbage disposal oscar team lol maybe i just need to let him get hungry for a day or so?

Lol I have an oscar garbage disposal team as well

i think that having a cichla that already off live food will train the others to follow. i train mine that way. of course getting the 1st one to eat requires some competition from other tank mates.. :D

worked for me. tried 2 times..... dropped live feeders and then chopped shrimp. first time my tems took the shrimp but spit it out. 2nd day i tried again and they took the shrimp again and swallowed it. thank you very much.

Got my (2) 4"-5" Ocells to eat frozen brine shrimp and blood worms using this method. Now I am trying to get them to eat Hikari Food Sticks and Massivore as well. As of now, they will rush the pellets and look at them, but not bite. Are there any specific methods to pellets, or do I just keep trying little by little?
