Converting Cichla off Live Food

read this method on here somewhere but my bass came eating frozen BW so I thaw it all out and mash massivore in and refreeze it and cut up the frozen cubes in chunks and dropped one in at a time, that worked immediately, Then I took away their afternoon meal and offered only tiny pieces of massivore. Im talking 1 pellet cut in 6 pieces or so lol. My ocells are 3 inches & under and now happily wait at the bottom of the tank for the massivore chunks to fall right in front of them :) 4 3 inch ocells massivore trained it took about a month but now they eat BW and massivore twice a day and take both of them! they dont like krill though I never can figure that out. Also my geos go crazy for the pellets also lol there dinks as well. they just ate them right out of the bag!

good thing with the bloodworms I've had a lot of success with is always feeding them the worms with a turkey baster. Drop them in a cup first let them break up if you have cubes or live just suck up and slowly lower it into the tank. Your young bass should get used to hovering under the baster and munching up everything that comes out. After two or three days when they are used to this will swarm the baster when you dip it in and simply replace the worms with ground chunks of massivore in the baster. Once they take a bite or two its only uphill from there and you can relatively quickly get rid of the baster soon after that and they will recognize the pellets as the new grub.

took about 1 week from straight live to dead minnows right out of my hand & as of today 2 of my 3 bass are eating floating sticks :) great method here

I'm finding the best way to break cichla eating habits are to trick them. One method that is working at the moment is defrost blood worm and mix with broken pieces of pellets and crushed pellets then refrozen. I refreeze in pill packets like paracetamol so they are in small portions. These are easily popped out. I started of with a little crushed pellet and added more every time I done it. Now they're crammed and taking them all. I think it'll only be a matter of time till they are hitting pellets.
