convict cichlid tank mates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
dude... i LOVE convicts and all and though of having a pair in m 125 buuut when i lived in the apts on my own i had a 20 long divided with 2 pairs and boy that didnt look so good either.. even tho the tank was divided they still went after eachother! they never stopped going after eachother and flaring through the glass. stressing themselfs out and me to trying to figure out what to do with 2 pairs of cons... so i wouldnt advise haveing a pair with any other cichlids unless you want a blood bath or the tank is divided.... try a pair of sevs and ONE male convict..... and no the fish dont grow to there tank size or there water quility ( sp ) they grow tell there stunted in a smaller tank ( there outside stops growing but the inside keeps going and killing the fish slowly ) so in the 55 have a pair of sevs and 1 male convict with some dithers to distract them from aggression..

My Con's are currently housed with an FH,Jag,and a GT
Just looking at your signature. You have all those fish in a 55 gallon? You know that soon you will only have a Jaguar or a Flowerhorn left right? Because it's gonna end in a bloodbath. And even just a Jaguar or Flowerhorn get too big for a 55.

Yea you don't need to hear anymore but the only reason I started about your stock was because you are giving terrible advise to the original poster.

if its a big male convict i had a friend do the combo of a fully grown breeding convict pair with a oscar an a 6 inch piranha. i currently have the piranha in a 10 gallon temp tank until i can find a home for him.

I was giving the example that Con's can live with highly aggressive cichlid tank mates, Also I'm not taking advice from a guy that tries to look like a muscle man in his Avatar which makes him look like a complete wanna be. Pretty damn pathetic.
