You probably will not see much Dainichi around because of the price being to much to sell at local fish shops. But when bloat can send a few hundred dollars up in smoke, it is worth the extra money.

I used both the only difference i found was that nls was a little bit more messy, but living in Poland they are both exspensive so my stepson brought me a 2kg bucket of nls when he comes over, but i still use dainichi twice a week.

I don't know if adding my perspective to a 6 year old post is worth anything. I was and soon will be again a Dainichi user. For the last few months I have been using New Life Spectrum because of the lower price and the reviews that it has on the internet. I have recently had about 5 of my African cichlids die from bloat. Bloat is an afterthought with Dainichi. I now have to feed my Tanganyikian tanks every other day to avoid bloat. Once this 70.5 ounce bucket of New Life Spectrum is gone it is back to Dainichi. The extra money for the food will be made up by not having to replace dead fish.
I've been keeping African cichlids for years and have had bloat crop up only once. this one instance was on sensitive species that were still juveniles. I've been feeding NLS as a staple for all of these years. I'm also a notorious over-feeder. I would venture to say the bloat was not caused but he type of food, but more than like a combination of multiple inputs/issues.

The death of the fish took place in 2 different tanks. The only common denominator was NLS.

The death of the fish took place in 2 different tanks. The only common denominator was NLS.

Other common denominators would likely be the water change schedule, water source, feeding schedule, feeding amount, potential bacteria shared between nets, etc. Just because it is two tanks, doesn't mean it isn't related. I'm confident to say it isn't just the food. There is something else going on that triggers it, not just brand of food. If NLS was solely causing this problem, you wouldn't be the online having it. The number of occurrences would most likely be much higher.
