Difference between a Red Terror and Mayan Cichlid

People say look at the first bar by the head and it should be a Y shape for it to be a true Red Terror. But I looked at pics of a Mayan Cichlid and they do have the Y shape bar also by the head.

What are the other differences?
 
eye spot on tail. Festae on upper half, mayan in the middle
 
Oh I see, I got burned then. The LFS labeled it a Red Terror and I wanted a real one. They should have labeled it Mayan Cichlid then I would have never bought it in the first place. Guess it is going to go to an LFS for a $2 credit because I dont want a Mayan. No wonder it was $7 for a 6 inch fish when I bought it.
 
Sorry to hear that mate... I had the same experience a few years ago. Never trust your LFS lol... Lesson Learnt ;-)

Worth a go... Take some proof as too what it really is.
 
Hey bro all the lfs recieve mayans as red terrors. I have gone thru the same as you in the past and I coerrected them and even worked at one before. But they say since that's the name they recieve them that's what they sell them as. They will also recieve true festae and label them the same. Once you get the hang of being able to properly I'd them it won't be a problem. I would suggest looking into a reliable source for festae. My friend fishluvr just had a batch, you could look him up and maybe get a group for good price.
Another thing is the "Y" on festae connect and mayans don't. Good luck and merry Christmas
