DIY Algae scrubber

No worries about the questions.

The two ends of the pvc pipe were drilled with a step drill. The plastic ends are a barb adapter. It's been siliconed on the thread side. Used hose steel hose clamps and 3/4 tubing.

It's 2 feet tall.

awesome nice job. Im thinking i could do something similar. But need to figure out where to place the pump and return..u think if i place the pump in the sump it will be able to push the water up out of the sump then up the length of pipe ? Could have the return gp right back in the sump

It'll be able to push up the water up toward the tank.

300 watt, was at 10 ppm down from 15ppm

The drip thru scrubber, was Slightly above 20ppm.

I just got my 6th liter of denitrate, along with 30 vials of biodigest. I plan to introduce the bacteria to my smaller tanks first, as I haven't completed the filter for the 210.View attachment 1238377 View attachment 1238378 View attachment 1238379

Looks great man. Im eagerly awaiting the test results over the next few weeks.

Gonna tackle purigen filter 3.0 if my daughter will allow. The blue one is clumping up way too much.

I bought all the materials, to do this, ended up carbon dosing instead, about a year ago. Seen a thread ,about one that was 4' tall. It never continued, for any results.

I have pondered using ones of these to feed an algae scrubber, extra Co2, and nitrites, from partially anarobicaly decomposed nitrate, and ammonia.
Assuming algae could absorb all the nitrite, ammonia, as fast as bacteria could produce it. It would probably purify 30 gallons a day of 20ppm nitrate water, to 0 ppm. With a 5 gallon bucket sized setup.

I read something on another site where the guys got 6 months use out of it tjen felt the drop off was due to the medai being clogged up and unable to be cleaned properly. Sheesh at 32 bucks for 4L i wouldnt mind replacing it every 6 months
