DIY Algae scrubber

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes....sealed up yesterday. Will be installing tomorrow onto the tank. Hope I can do a water change tonight and then will see where it goes. Will not be adding any bacteria to it. So will be slow.

More like a jump start. It's a form of bottled bacteria, like stability.
So you dont plan on constantly re dosing right ?

It doesn't need to be constantly dosed, but like nitrifying bacteria, it is helpful to dose regularly.

I got photos and will get some stuff together.

Nitrates less than 3ppm
Did a water change today. So nitrates are now at 25ppm, little higher, but close.
Sorry to confuse you, but that's correct. Was 3ppm now 25ppm.
300 watts on. For 48 hours will knocked out. Almost a full grown screen

On the drip thru scrubber the 640nm led lights are Not cutting thru nitrate. Still 25ppm.
Switch out and put in 2 Santa Monica gem lights, 660mn. Leds 10 or 20 watt, I can't remember.

Was wondering about the pump. The small 40gph jebao is real small what size tubing did you use ?

Went to 3/4 inch tubing. Couldn't use the regular I had.

Daily update.
300 watt is at 15 ppm down from 25 ppm 24 hours ago. Water Temp is 62 F degrees.
30 gallons.

The drip thru is holding steady, at 25ppm. Needs a bit more algea use to the 660nm spectrum.
