Shame the vases didn't work.

Imho i think the best and easiest look would be getting the clear pipes you originally looked at and fitting them between suitably coloured (not clear!) bulkhead fittings. Make up a suitable pair of lids for the 10s to match the look of the bulkheads and give a kind of industrial feel to it all. Be very unique.

that would work and i appreciate the enthusiasm. But i just cannot find the right size bulkheads. However i already found the glass tubing its just kinda pricey but reasonable enough for me to break down and by it. so i think i am just going to go with that.

That's cool. 4 and a half inch bulkheads are out there somewhere, i've seen another thread on here using them just don't know where to find them either. I'm half tempted to try that method myself when i'm after a smaller project rather than what i'd planned.

do you guys have them tall glass spaghetti jars over there.
they seem really thick glass and could be cut in two as well
as have the end cut off.

UPDATE*

no good news. when to go pick up the vase's that i droped off to get cut today and the glass shop broke both of them. they said that they were just to thin. so im trying to fig out a new route or cheap glass tubing

thought of that too. vases are just 2 thin. I just found a place in cali that has 1/4 in glass tubing and the are going to sell me 2 6 inch pieces fr around 60 bucks shipped. so i think im going to go that route. But i have to wait for my tax return to come in for the funds haha. aahhhhh the joys of being a 21 year old college student.

I worked through college so I ended up with like 30 dollars every year. :(

ATTEMPT 2!!!!

ok so hear is a update. I just happend to come across these while I was in big lots yesterday. They are perfect. they are the same outside diamiter ( 4 inches) as the other ones but the glass is about 1/4 inch thick. So hopefully they will be able to cut these without braking them. They were kinda pricey though, 8 bucks a piece. But, if these work it saved me 40. Also I posted pics of the one vase that I got back from the glass shop before. It was the only one that didnt completely shatter and it kept cracking while they were cutting it so it ended up being about 4 inches short and a really rough edge, But anyway I plan to go drop these off tomorrow some time to get cut. idk how you're cutting them, but instead of trying to cut the whole base off I believe that drilling a hole that is almost as wide as the base of the inside of that glass might be easier =] and all you gotta do is to fill the glass with water - no constant rinsing of the drilling area ! =) just my 2c ;)

Good luck and keep us posted !
