diy cool book shelf tank???? Ideas

UPDATE*

no good news. when to go pick up the vase's that i droped off to get cut today and the glass shop broke both of them. they said that they were just to thin. so im trying to fig out a new route or cheap glass tubing

Darn. I was hoping for this to take off again. If you end up with some vases again from like a donations resell shop then you could try drilling them. Just use a smaller circular bit than the opening for the joint. If you go slow enough, there shouldn't be a problem and you can probably have the glass company sand the rim so fish can't cut themselves.

Why not try square vases? Would be easier to cut, and might be a bit stronger?
Plenty of cheap ones about (well, in the UK at least!)

thought of that too. vases are just 2 thin. I just found a place in cali that has 1/4 in glass tubing and the are going to sell me 2 6 inch pieces fr around 60 bucks shipped. so i think im going to go that route. But i have to wait for my tax return to come in for the funds haha. aahhhhh the joys of being a 21 year old college student.

Thought of that too. Except i was thinking about just making a square tube out of 4 pieces of glass. The problem with that however is you can really cut a square in the side of the tanks.

Shame the vases didn't work.

Imho i think the best and easiest look would be getting the clear pipes you originally looked at and fitting them between suitably coloured (not clear!) bulkhead fittings. Make up a suitable pair of lids for the 10s to match the look of the bulkheads and give a kind of industrial feel to it all. Be very unique.

But thanks for trying to help guys!!!!! any other ideas would help alot and be appreciated.
