Hurm, wouldn't it leak water if that was the case? I don't think that is since I put cement on both the fitting and the pipe and twist half a turn on the way in. I may have to throttle down the pump for the max that 1 overflow can handle and see if it still does it.

well, if you havent already found the problem, heres another way xD

fill the whole thing with water (like cap the tee) and cover the intake, then blow on the vent. It might show you where there is a leak if water is coming out.

another problem i have, i am going to get a quiet one 3000 pump and i dont know now if my 10 gallon sump is a good idea long with the puny sterilite bin xD

i dont think it matters as long as there is a loop but i think that the lower the loop is, the lower the "tee" on the outside can go (so that its even) and so that will make the water flow faster

It does matter. The shorter the distance, the weaker the siphon, the more it's going to suck air, the louder it will be, and more possibility for it to fail or not restart. Not to mention that as it fills with air the flow rate will lessen and your tank will overflow. You can use an Aqualifter to remove the air build up, but I still wouldn't suggest making it very much shorter than the bottom.

Ok, Thanks. I just wanted to make sure so i dont end up being cheap and cutting it short for a extra buck or two, not to mention i think the parents wont mind paying a few more for less chance of a flood LOL
