Just did a little more work on the sump. Unfortunately the drip plate wasn't distributing the water like I had hoped so I had to do a little altering. Not exactly what I wanted to do but it seems to work alright.
I used a small powerhead to push some water through some spray bars that I made out of 1/2" pvc.
Here's a better shot of the input to the sump.
Here is the right side cover in place. I still have to make the left side cover.
Filter socks are long filters shaped like socks that filters the water as it enters the sump. I used real filter socks, I just made a diy filter holder out of 4" pvc.
It looks like not a alot of water is going thru the socks. It probably won't hurt anything since you have the mat over the drip plate but, is there anything you can do to get more water to flow thru them?
I probably need to rinse them out. I'm also thinking that if I slow down the drains (by restricting the flow from the pump to the tank) a little it might help. If that doesn't work I'm out of ideas.
hey how is your sump doing while its running, i have a similar design, i cant seem to get even distribution, water just run down on the edges, and not going through the holes
I made an edging all the way around mine using pvc rod, that helped quite a bit. Then when I added the powerhead with the spray bars that helped out even more. It still isn't perfect but it seems to be doing a pretty good job. I am thinking about doing a more powerful powerhead with a better spraybar.
