Dont feed spiders!

It has been my experiance when feeding spiders to my fish that they just don't like the tast. Tend to always spit them out. I do know my bugs though and would not attempt sertin types! Now I don't even bother with spiders not worth my effert. About the Dadylongleg thing I agree that it is a bunch of bull! About them being deadly. In sixth grade a friend of mine was getting on my nerves. So I put two under a peice of pepperoni that was on a slice of pizza I feed to him. Poor bastard never even had a clue:headbang2 BUT he lived! About the puffer fish venum. Yes it is very toxic but it does not hold a candle to the Box Jellyfish! There is a deadly son of a bit*h!
 
Just so everyone knows there is only 2 spiders in the world that have and will take human lives. The Funnel Web and the Brazilian walking spider are very venomous and there bits will kill without medical treatment. There is also a few other spiders that have medical significant venom that is very dangerous to human but is not known to kill those are the baboons, like the Indian ornimental is known for its powerful venom which can cause a human to go into a coma for up to 2 weeks. Just a quick lesson on arachnids

The deadlist venom on the planit is produced by puffers, box jelly fish, blue ringed octopus, and a few other animals. The venom is called tetrodotoxin and is considered the most leather venom on the planet...
 
Although no confirmed death from blackwidows have been recorded in the USA for almost 20 years they used to kill just under 5% of reported bites, this change is due to effective antivenom and a change in where people are bitten, now almst all bites occur on the extremeties, until the disuse of outhouses the most common place to be bitten was on the testicles.
Another possible killer is the wandering spider of Brasil kills untreated victims at a rate of about 0.05%.
 
omg!!! cannot believe that!!! that is so unfortunate, sorry man! but do you think this is the case for all fish? i mean could i feed ants to my archers? i know someone said earlier that ants also contain venom...? but in the wild do archers not eat ants? well i'll probably not risk it anyway, not worth it really! also i think the ants round us live near where we put slug pellets down, yes actually that a definate NONO!! lol
 
Just to add to this - I lived in Asia for a little bit where we raised arowana that we fed with cockroaches. This worked out fine until one of the cockroaches we fed it was recently exposed to insecticides.

End result - arowana and cockroach both dead. I'd be careful with feeding fish that aren't store bought or purposely grown to feed fish :(
 
Some of the most complex toxins can be found on coral reefs. If you think about it corals are very slow moving preditors, so when they sting something it has to stop. Just to clarify, I am saying reefs have some of the most complex toxins, not the most deadly.

I read a thread on RC about a guys dog dying after puting its head in a tub with some zoa frags.

And I agree that you should never feed wild insects because of pesticides. I also think its pretty ingnorant to kill a spider just because it there.
 
Very interesting warning! Won't be using questionable bugs. Of course I don't feed mine roaches or anything from our house because they are already contaminated with insecticide. Don't want to nuke the fish!
