Electric Blue Texas Cichlid

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's either a line bred or hybrid. Notice it doesn't have defined spots like typical caprintis. It really does remind me of electric blue acara or EBJD.

Looks like most Carpintis to me. Last Rio Hondo I had was just as "electric" as the one in OP's picture.

This is the problem with common names which fish are you referring to as "regular texas"? H.Carpintis or H.Cyanoguttatus? I've seen them both called Texas. And as for red Texas, their hybrids. So sadly sometimes they look exactly like one parent or the other. Or sometimes they look like neither parent. I've seen " Red Texas" with zero red in them. :(

Thanks everyone! I'll have fun researching carpintis. The pics don't do this fish justice. The color is magnificent.

The color on your fish is amazing. There is a good deal of variation in caprintis.

I'll grow her out a bit a send some pics. Think its a female? Its a bit blurry but thought neat photo parrot as background. Thanks again everyone for the come backs!
